News from The Rev. Deacon Bill Mosier

posted Jan 23, 2012 2:19 PM by Ed Knight

I am now serving St. James Episcopal Church in Fremont as deacon. I moved here with my new wife Beverly Cannon /  Mosier. I am still going through the required back ground checks for becoming a licensed minister in the Diocese of N. California. I have approval from the diocese to begin liturgical presence at St. James and serve as deacon in that parish on Wednesday mornings as once a month for the Sunday Liturgy on the third Sunday's of the month I have met with the Cannon to the Ordinary Micheal Barlowe and we are in dialogue about possible re establishing ministry among Deaf People in the Diocese.  The Ministry of Holy Spirit has been dissolved and only two people from the old deaf congregation attend St. Paul's in Walnut Creek.
We continue to be in touch with our people at St. Hilda's in the diocese of Oregon through Skype and VP communication. They gave us a wonderful send off. Bev is a teacher at CSDF and I have applied for volunteer work at the school. In addition I hope to become active in the residential care facility, Fremont Oaks Gardens.
Things are very much in the planning stages. I will most likely be having hip surgery in February or March.
Mean while prayers for our work in Fremont would be most appreciated.

Sarah Reith reported on our Facebook page: "The Rev. J. Barry Kramer, former Missionary to the Deaf in the Diocese of North Carolina, died of a heart attack in Green Mountain, NC (Diocese of Western North Carolina) on November 16, 2011. Funeral arrangements are not clear yet but the service will be in 2012. I did not know Barry but know he had a rich ministry. I spoke with him on 10-31 as part of my research on Deaf ministry in the Diocese of NC. May he rest in eternal peace and may God comfort all who mourn."

Gilbert Maxson of Rochester, NY passed away today after a brief illness.  He was resident of Unity Living Center in Rochester, NY, and is predeceased by his wife, Gladys Maxson.
Gil was active in the Ephphatha Rochester Ministry for many years.  He grew up in Rochester and attended school at Rochester School for the Deaf, then worked at Kodak.  He served as Ephphatha Treasurer and Warden and acted as acolyte and Chalice bearer as well as Layreader for Ephphatha as well as the hearing church with which it was associated.  Gil will be remembered as a kind and intelligent man who loved his God and his neighbor.  It is fitting that he has passed on All Saints Day - he is certainly one of our blessed and remembered saints!
